In a televised interview aired on December 17, Mohammadreza Farzin addressed recent online rumors regarding the status of Iran\u2019s gold reserves, backing his statement with official statistics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"504\" data-end=\"848\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"850\" data-end=\"1184\">Farzin stated that <strong data-start=\"869\" data-end=\"942\">20% of Iran\u2019s foreign exchange reserves have been converted into gold<\/strong> and are currently held in the Central Bank&#8217;s treasury. He emphasized that these conversions are part of a broader strategy to diversify reserves, especially under economic sanctions where <strong data-start=\"1131\" data-end=\"1156\">gold&#8217;s high liquidity<\/strong> makes it a strategic asset.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1186\" data-end=\"1534\">Responding to a widely circulated social media rumor suggesting that part of the country&#8217;s gold reserves had gone missing, Farzin dismissed the claim as baseless. \u201cSometimes the truth is not told clearly enough, giving space for misinformation to spread. Our adversaries aim to disrupt the market by turning rumors into perceived reality,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1536\" data-end=\"1850\">He added that Iran\u2019s gold reserves, built through both domestic and international purchases, represent one of the <strong data-start=\"1650\" data-end=\"1694\">highest ratios of gold to total reserves<\/strong> among central banks globally.
