Iran and Tunisia Emphasize Expanding Bilateral Relations

Today, on September 16, Mir Masoud Hosseinian, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Tunisia, met with the newly appointed Tunisian Foreign Minister, Mohamed Ali Nafti.

During the meeting, Hosseinian extended his congratulations on the occasion of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birth and congratulated Nafti on his recent appointment by the Tunisian President. He also handed over a written message from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, congratulating Nafti on his new role. Nafti warmly welcomed the message, expressing gratitude and sending his warm regards to Araghchi, and expressed a desire to strengthen relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Hosseinian referred to the meetings between Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Tunisian President Kais Saied in Algeria, and the subsequent participation of Saied in a funeral ceremony where he met Iran’s Supreme Leader. He viewed these meetings as significant breakthroughs in bilateral relations. The Ambassador emphasized the importance of visa waiver agreements to enhance mutual relations.

Political, cultural, and economic relations were discussed during the meeting, with both sides addressing ways to expand ties and resolve obstacles. Additionally, the Tunisian Foreign Minister was invited to visit Iran. The Iranian Ambassador also expressed hope for successful and peaceful Tunisian presidential elections, following the elections in Iran two months ago.

The discussions also included the holding of the 13th Joint Economic Commission and a political committee meeting between the two countries. Tunisian Foreign Minister Nafti expressed optimism that both nations would succeed in the mentioned areas through mutual efforts.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Iranian Ambassador presented Nafti with a gift of handcrafted items from Isfahan.
